There's nothing as bad as taking pictures of your friends or family and looking at the pictures later and not being at all happy with them. Being too embarassed to show them off and afraid of having a joke or smart comment passed about them is not a nice feeling. People in Motion: Your camera's shutter speed is a key element to your camera if you intend to shoot moving subjects or take action shots. Maybe your friend is snowboarding down a hill or playing a football match then trying to catch them at the right moment can be difficult. Most consumer cameras these days offer a shutter speed as short as 1/4000 of a second which puts action photography in anyone's reach. Next always try and anticipate where your subject will be at, at a certain time and be ready when they are close. Patience is a virtue when it comes to photography, wait for that perfect shot and don't rush it, it will reward you in the end.

Holiday Shots: The most common holiday picture is one that shows yourself or a friend positioned in front of or beside a famous landmark or building. There is no reason why your photographs should be left in a drawer gathering dust. People spend a fortune on items to hang on the wall, wouldn't it be rewarding to be able to hang your own work on your own wall and be proud of it. As we know, popular tourist attractions are surrounded by lots of people looking for the perfect shot. To avoid including crowds in your shots there are a few easy tricks that can be utilised. Zooming in on your subject can close the space between you, however, it can cause a loss of depth in the picture. An easy tip to lose the crowd in the picture is to shoot your main subject from below. When shooting upwards on a subject make sure to avoid to much sunlight which will glare the picture.

Great baby pictures: All parents long for a picture or two that really capture their babies mood and personality. However babies being what they are will make this as difficult as possible. Their movements, moods, smiles and tears can change in a matter of seconds. When shooting your baby, a soft light on a white or neutral background will be best for your babies soft features. This will also help to reflect your babies eyes. If your baby is restless then let them touch or feel the camera so that they will feel playful with it. If you find that ideal shot, take a few variations of the same setting. What looks good to the eye may look slightly different on paper so better to take a few slightly different photos of the same scene. A simple change in facial expression can make a great baby picture.
