Diindolylmethane or DIM is an active substance that promotes estrogen balance in both men and women. This ability is where Diindolylmethane derived its powerful anti-carcinogenic properties. When normal estrogen and testosterone ratio is maintained, it protects both male and female reproductive systems form breast cancers, uterine cancers, and enlarged prostate gland or Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia. It is also used as treatment for endometriosis, pre menstrual syndrome, and chronic breast pain. This natural estrogen balance also reduces side effects of hormonal replacement therapy in older women. Other beneficial effects of DIM supplements are increasing libido, promoting weight loss and aiding in body building.

There are no known Diindolylmethane side effects yet. There have been no reports from those using Diindolylmethane supplements until this time. Past and present laboratory researches did not reveal any harmful side effects from taking either natural Diindolylmethane from vegetables or from Diindolylmethane supplements. DIM supplement for men and women produces beneficial results. However it is still uncertain if they are safe for children. Children should get their Diindolylmethane from vegetables as part of their diet.
