If a smoker desires the taste of Cognac or rum it is a better practice for them to sip on a glass of Cognac or rum while they smoke their cigar. There are also specially designed cigars that contain the taste of Cognac or rum. By either smoking a specially designed cigar or sipping on a glass of Cognac or rum, the smoker will ensure that alcohol and tobacco complement each other in a proper fashion.

Another added deterrent to dipping a cigar in alcohol is the risk a cigar smoker runs of having the cigar ignite improperly. Alcohol is flammable and, as a result, can cause a cigar to burn unevenly or even ignite to the point where the smoker could be harmed due to the increased flame that can be ignited with the presence of the alcohol.

There is a way that you can compromise and enjoy the great taste of an alcoholic beverage without ruining the flavor of your cigar. All you need to do is simply pour a glass of your beverage of choice and drink it while you are smoking your cigar. This allows you the opportunity to enjoy the rich flavor of the drink along with the delightfully relaxing flavor of your cigar, without worrying about ruining the flavor of either one.
