Director Laron Austin Prepares For Battle

Atlanta, -- Laron Austin, twenty five year old director from Detroit, MI now living in Atlanta, GA talks about how he prepared for the biggest project thus far. "Battle" stars Chris Burns ("The Lena Baker Story", "Somebodies") Onira Tares ("Jack Squad"), Conrad "Headroc" Clifton and E. Roger Mitchell ("Battle of Los Angeles"). "Battle" was written by Martin Kelley and Eddie Singleton and Executive Produced by Cassius Weathersby ("You Got Served") Produced by Kelley and Singleton along with Kenno Rixson and Bennie Swint.

Laron credits directing the low budget documentary "Beat Makers" for preparing him for the challenge of directing the feature film "Battle". "Beat Makers prepared me in so many ways because it allowed me to talk to hungry up and coming producers who really want it. It exposed me their stories of struggle; whether it was software failure, equipment robbery, industry frustrations, but more importantly it showed me how they find inspiration for their creations."

The script for "Battle" hit close to home for Austin who, like the main character in the film, faced struggles to continue his education because of financial issues. "I definitely could relate because I was in a similar situation," confesses Laron.

Laron wanted the film to feel larger than most independent films. "I approached "Battle" drawing inspirations of some of my favorite directors Akira Kurosawa and Martin Scorsese, hoping to make a film that appeared on a similar scale." As for a message, Laron hopes that people can take something out of the experience, "I want people that watch this film to understand that "Battle" is not just about a guy who enters beat battles, but also about a man and his battle to give his dreams a fighting chance."

"Battle" is a coming of age drama about an unknown producer RIPPA (Clifton) who pursues his passion for composing music. He wants to produce music for the top rappers in the industry and be respected as a producer worldwide.

"Battle" blends the mood, vigor, and themes of "8 MILE" with the perseverance and edge of HUSTLE & FLOW" with the old school vibe of "JUICE"
