You cannot rely on the information given by the seller until you completely examine the car. There may be many such functions in car which you might not be able to spot while examining the car. There is least amount of reliability factor involved in the process of purchasing used cars.
Warranty period
The most important drawback is warranty period of fewer months. If you purchase a new car you can find warranty period of longer duration as compared to used car. You will have to bare all kind of expense if caused after warranty period and this might cost you a lot in case of used car.
High maintenance
Used require good amount of maintenance as and when compared to new cars, in order to improve its efficiency as well as life. Ultimately you might end up spending more on used cars due to high maintenance program. On a regular basis you need to keep a tab on water level, engine oil, tires, and so on. At least you need to keep basic features in a proper condition to make car run. High maintenance cost might not be affordable for all users.

It actually becomes difficult to arrange finance from financial institutions in case of used cars. Even if can arrange finance, you may not be comfortable with the financing terms mentioned by the financial institutions. So in order to purchase used cars you need to make proper pre arrangements for finance.
