I just bought a new truck. My Chevy Avalanche is a beautiful addition to the family. I picked it up from a local dealership and everything went really smooth. It took a long time for me to decide on what I wanted and what the accessories should be. The deal was quick, but there were several months of research and deliberation involved. I dealt directly with the owner we got along really well during the process. We built a rapport along the way that created a type of bond between us.
Then the deal was done. The excitement and anticipation subsides leaving you with an overwhelming feeling of "Is that all there is?" Simply put, it was over. I do love the truck, but the process is what felt the best. The transaction was complete and there was nothing further to draw me back to the dealership.
The weirdest part is that I drive by the dealership several times a week on normal business. Then I remember that unless I buy another car or something goes horribly wrong, there is nothing for me there. The deal is complete and I am not drawn there for other reasons.
Bear in mind that the dealer might have other things that he could sell me. The dealer has a full shop. They can perform normal maintenance, repairs, even oil changes. All of that would be brining money through their doors. They also have the ability to find accessories for my new purchase. There are a lot of money making opportunities that are lost because of this system of sales.
The disadvantages of transactional marketing are clear when you analyze it. There are much better ways of marketing and keeping the customers returning for additional sales. Understanding how to market on and off the internet will set you apart from your competition and keep the money rolling in to you. Learning the tactics that create success should be your highest priority. Find a good marketing and mentoring system that can get you on the right track.
