Ever since 2002, nearly a million Americans have taken the advantage of purchasing
their medications from a Discount Pharmacy which is regulated by the Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA). Until this organization began regulating Canadian online pharmacies there was much skepticism about the safety of online pharmacies to patients.
Most of the scrutiny occurred because of the practice to sell drugs without a prescription. Also a factor was the practice of dispensing narcotics and or addictive drugs. But since regulations increased the integrity of the industry safety to the patients have also increased and so have the savings in the cost of medications.
The Canadian International Pharmacy Association (CIPA) has been governing Canadian Pharmacists since 2002. It is the only agency in Canada that accredits all online pharmacies that promote on the major search engine, Google. The CIPA ensures that its pharmacy members are certified and reliable and follow regulation guidelines to ensure patient safety.
A US patient is not allowed from using a Discount Pharmacy without having a face to face consultation with a doctor from either US or Canada. That US physician will issue the patient a prescription for a non-narcotic drug. The patient then may have if filled through a Discount Pharmacy if a Canadian doctor validates and co-signs the prescription. Further measures are taken to ensure patient safety. Patients may be requested to make a list of all medications they are taking whether prescription or non-prescription in order to ascertain that no drug interaction will take place.
These pharmacies deal with drugs from major reputable suppliers. They do not permit or sell narcotics such as Oxycodone or Tylenol 3. The patient will experience as much as an 80% savings over the US counterpart.
People are still skeptical in using online pharmacies since it has a history of dispensing drugs without prescription that eventually tarnished its reputation. Online Canada Pharmacies are now however regulated through trustworthy organizations such as CIPA. Over regulation of the industry is as much a concern to the public and the authorities that supervise these pharmacies. Excessive regulation could prevent the very people who most need low-priced drugs from receiving the help they need.
CIPA members are the only online pharmacies that are allowed to advertise on Google. CIPA sells only major name brand drugs such as Pfizer, Merck and Eli Lilly. Up to now all members of CIPA have a perfect safety record in serving its patients with online pharmacies.
