State Parks near Rye Beach

Rye Harbor State Park, 63 acres, offers numerous picking areas and chartered excursions for whale watching and saltwater fishing. Ordiorne Point was originally founded in 1623 and boasts the oldest settlement in New Hampshire. Today, the state park offers numerous activities, including hiking, biking, fishing, boating (includes a boat launch), picnicking, and cross-country skiing in the winter. Most memorable at the park, though, are the sweeping vistas of the ocean.


Bear Brook State Park, the largest developed park in the state, has the most diverse activities from which to choose both summer and winter. Imagine hiking, biking, fishing, recreating in canoes and rowboats, fly fishing and even archery ranges in the summer, and cross-country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter.

Wallis Sands State Beach is a warm, sandy, inviting beach where swimming, playing and relaxing are in order. This beach boasts great views of the Isles of Shoals. Hampton Beach State Park boasts miles of sandy beach, and offers year-round fun.

Beyond the remarkable state parks, Rye is a busy and modern city. Local eateries offer everything from ice cream and corn dogs to satisfying the most discriminating palette. Lobster, fried clams, and the finest seafood in New Hampshire can also be found in Rye.

As one of the oldest established communities in the United States, the Rye Beach area offers numerous American history museums, historic tugboat tours, historic forts where numerous battles have been fought, and historic buildings that line the streets.
