Diseases That Lead To Hair Loss
Hair loss is a problem we can not escape
Hair loss is a problem we can not escape. Some hair loss is due to diseases and som e to genetic factors. Of the diseases listed below many of them are devastating for women.
Alopecia Areata (AA) patchy hair loss. An autoimmune decease that can appear anywhere on the scalp usually as a circular or oval patch/patches, 1-2 cm in diameter. It is not uncommon to have several patches at the same time and that they will move around in the scalp. The bodies own immune system is attacking the hair follicles for unknown reasons and make them leave the anagen growth phase and release the hair. The time for the hair to fall out and form small spots in the scalp can be as fast as one day in many cases. The shorter time the spot is in the scalp the bigger is the chance of the hair growing back. Often the spots disappear within 6-12 months. But the decease is wily and the hair loss can return after a couple of years for no reason.
A contributing cause to these outbrakes for alopecia areata is stress and great worries. Normally cortecoides are used together with concentrated light of different wavelengths, acupuncture or ther drugs put on top of teh skin to start up rashes in the scalp. Then the immune system can leave the follicles and start to work at the new skin disorder. If this happens the hair will immediately start to grow back.
Traction Alopecia Local trauma where different hairstyles, tight braids, pulls the follicles and create wounds and harm to the hair cells. If they are observed early in time the hair can grow back, otherwise permanent damages is not uncommon.
Telogen Effluvium When the human bodies undergoes dramatic and revolutionary experiences, like severe infections, high fevers, child deliveries, surgery or extreme stress the growth phase changes for the individually hair follicles. The hair is normally growing in cycles of 3-8 years. This is called the anagen phase and this phase can be changed to the telogen phase in a very short time - resulting in major hair loss. This change of phase can happen very quickly and within weeks major parts of the hair can be gone from the scalp. Many females are suffering from no reasons at all as it seems and the are often psycologically affected. Here science have no clue.
Trichotillomania (TTM also known as trichotillosis or more commonly known as trich) is defined as hair loss from a patients repetitive self-pulling of hair. It is characterized by the repeated urge to pull out scalp hair or other body hair, sometimes resulting in a noticeable bald patches. This atate is most times no possible to change and get well and thera are numerous debates whether this behaviour is to be called a "tic" or a psycological disease. The impulses to pull its own hair can start as early as childhood but normally staqrt at around 9-13 years of age. Alopecia Areata is often caused from a stressful living or from a negative state of mind. This phenomena is more often appearing in women than in men. There are often dual patches in the scalp even though thee can be even more. The decease is not very well know among the public and often something the affected persons never talk about. This often leads to loneliness and unhappiness because they can not alter there behavior and can not ask the others for help.
