Distance Eduction For The Single Parent
Many single parents who would like to reenter the work place or go back to college
find it an astoundingly difficult task to juggle both family and work or studies. There are, in fact, a number of restrictions imposed by traditional education and training methods, especially regarding physical access to the college, and meeting the lesson or training time schedule, as opposed to the modern systems and methods presented by online education. Sure, a few institutions offer child care facilities, but this is not universal and often, unless a scholarship can be obtained, cost-prohibitive. The issues of fitting education around child-caring duties without the support of a partner are so difficult and can even be impossible. Distance learning is a great way to beat this problem. It simply paves the way for unreasonable challenges and provides a solid education or training and at the same time an uplifting challenge, with a 'light at the end of the tunnel' of having obtained new skills to take to the workplace.
Mentally, the single-parent will be inspired by the possibilities opened up by the online learning methods, given the advantage of being able to work in their own place, at their own pace with time flexibility on their side. This cannot be said about the restrictive methods of traditional 'bricks and mortar' education providers, where physical presence is required, often at times impractical to the single-parent student. Online and distance education simply fixes this issue. In my interview with Gail, 24, an aspiring model and single mom, she says that online education otherwise, distance learning has inspired her to go back to college and earn a degree even if she is juggling a baby and a new found career. She says that by taking up an online learning course she can manage her time fairly, she can go the cafe to unwind, meet up with friends, have a chat, catch up, go shopping or even take a needed nap.
Gail's testimony goes out to the many the single parent's who cry for help especially in matters like this. This is exactly what single-parents out there need. They need the right balance to getting an education, handling a baby, having the luxury of doing things for themselves like having a 'me-time', and not feel annoyed or tied down. Gail also went onto saying that with online education, she now feels motivated to finish college and earn a degree and that she has realized that having a baby and blossoming career is not a hindrance - in what she thought was impossible, is now possible because of how open, flexible, and accessible online education is. "I am enjoying the benefits of distance learning through Careerline Courses, primarily taking up Hobby Photography to later on fit the needs in my modeling career. Online education has provided me ways to be productive and enthusiastic about studying and working at the same time. Hobby Photography is an online training course wherein I learn the basics of Photography which I will later on apply to my profession."
