Living with distressed kitchen cabinets can be tough. However the essence of distress has crept deep into our hectic turmoil full lives. A bit of gleam does a wonder. If you have a kitchen the original way: with wood all over , a bit of class a bit of struggle as well if I may add.
Though all these old boys need is a bit of cleaning and wiping with a oistened cloth and a clean wipe afterwards. Once in a blue moon you may choose to apply a bit of detergent or soap depending upon the level of distress.
All the way whenever I come across a distressed kitchen; I can't but help feel it reflects the state of the mind. In a way it's vice versa. So if keeping the kitchen clean is an easier alternate to the idea of removing or rather ridding the riddle in our lives it is worth the effort.
Liquid Cleaners
One must however remember that one must not impart the detergent cleaning on a regular basis. One should alternatively be on the lookout for a liquid non abrasive cleaner. It is not for the sake of your hands but the cabinets. These will be as effective as vinegar and water which I may add is an acid will eat away at the wood in time. So do not listen to your grandmother once and try out something else. If it does not clean them well enough it will not hurt them either.
Kitchen Cabinets and Cleaning Them
It is good to know that these days we do have a lot of cabinetry with coatings on them specifically designed to prevent damage from abrasion and corrosion. This makes cleaning them a bit hassle free. A simple cloth with some warm water might just do the trick, and a bit of non abrasive cleaning agent will do the trick for the dirt and spills.
Protecting kitchen cabinets is a bit on the easier side. A bit of easy care will not only keep them shinning but will also prolong their life. A clean swipe with every spill a bit of finer precision while pouring liquids will save a lot of time. A bit of effort might be put in lifting things rather than just dragging them across would save a dime a day for sure.
A bit of patience is all we need; a bit of effort will work wonders. I guess distressed finished cabinets will only be a minor problem or cease to even be so.
