Ditch That Rut You Are In By Going Retro - Back To The Classic Films
Do you feel boxed in? Are you slogging along in the same old way
, day by day, week by week, year after countless year? You are also undoubtedly then eating the same stuff, watching the same movies, hanging with the same people, listening to the same music until you bang your head against the wall just because it feels so good when you stop?
Am I getting overly dramatic? Yes, probably so. But being stuck in the same old same old ad nauseum can do that to anyone.
Everyone reaches a point in their life when they find themselves swimming with the tide altogether too often. This is what they DO. Change is uncomfortable.
You know what I'm talking about. When you wake up in the morning already knowing what your day's going to look like when it begins. When you don't even bother writing a grocery list anymore, because you already know what you're going to bring home.
Get Over It!
Most of the time, when you're looking for a way to break out of that rut, you look forward. The latest music. The latest toys and gadgets. (5th generation iPhone, anyone?) New clothes. New electronics. New car. Tomorrow's trends, today. Right?
Look back to vintage classic films for a fine rut-busting experience that will give you a whole new outlook on life.
When was the Last Time you Spent a Few Hours Enrapt over an Old Film Classic?
Have you seen Casablanca lately or 12 Angry Men? If not, or if you have never seen these two classics, you are in for a real treat.
You may discover like so many before you that old movies had more value before there was Technicolor and endless special effects to keep your attention. In 12 Angry Men, the outstanding plot made up for what could have been the tedium of a setting in a location that never changed. The character development looms large over the people that manage to look like people. Excellent camera shots were there to capture the audience's interest in what would be considered today relatively lousy film quality.
In modern times, films depend way too much on special effects and special technological inventions to get and keep the viewer's interest. It is that very thing that detracts from the reason you watch movies in the first place whether on the big screen or small: A story that will keep you glued in your seat until the end and occasionally even after.
If you are not a film fanatic, the concept of whether a film is a new boffo box office hit or an oldie featuring the superstars of the 1920's, 30's or 40's will possible mean nothing to you. What difference does it make as long as it holds your interest, yes?
But with websites making these vintage films available to us again, we have an opportunity we didn't have before. To appreciate the value of today's new technology as well as the unique flavor that makes vintage film so phenomenally great. To remember what it was like when all you had was a handful of tools at your fingertips to create something spectacular.
And, in the end, to remember what it really is we loved about film in the first place.
