Diving With Mola Mola In An Exotic Bali Island

Bali is known to be a place of exotic food, white sandy beaches

, luxury villas Bali, and warm and hospitable people. It is also home to a number of dive sites that are unique and incomparable to other sites.

And when you dive in Bali, you will be greeted by the most unique species of marine life, as well as by rare sea creatures that you can only find in Bali. Among the most exciting things to see in this island is the Mola Mola.

The Mola Mola is a whale shark, one of the most elusive giants of the sea and the biggest bony fish too. It can grow up to 10.75 feet long and weigh up to 2.5 tons. What makes this creature unique too is that its shape is fairly odd with its ovoid structure and huge dorsal and ventral fins. The Mola Mola feeds only on jellyfish, plankton, and small fish that is why they are a favorite to approach among divers.

The Mola Mola has changeable patterns of spots on them and may appear to be of silver opalescent in color. It easily escapes anyone who attempts to catch it because its skin is covered in mucus.

If you want to find these fish, you have to carefully select where you will go to. They can be commonly found in Nusa Penida and Nusa Lembongan.

The Mola Mola are not very agile in water, primarily for their size. However, they can be found swimming near the surface of the water. Though they are not posers of danger to divers, they are more dangerous to the boats as there have been accounts of Mola Molas leaping out of the water and onto the boats. Such collisions may entangle them in the boats propeller.

The Mola Mola needs to eat a lot to sustain its huge body. That is why to enable them to eat their food, their mouths are designed to look like a beak that will allow them to break the shells of the food they are consuming.

When this fish reproduces, the female Mola Mola releases her egg cells into the water which get fertilized there. It has been known that such female Mola Mola produces the most number of egg cells among vertebrates. As the eggs are fertilized, the mother fish does not watch over her spawn.

With the Mola Mola being enormous, it is not a prey among smaller fish. However, it can be a prey for the sea lions which prove to have them as their favorite. With the Mola Mola being effectively immobile, the sea lion attacks the fins first and then the head.

To protect the existence of the Mola Mola, much survey and research has been done by the government. They are continually gathering data to make their existence proliferate and last longer.

So if you want to be in the midst of the Mola Mola, then come to Bali and stay at any of the villas in Bali for rent.
