Diving around Thailand is beautiful, there is nice wreckages to explore off the coasts of Thailand, Islands like Koh Tao in Southern Thailand is also a very popular place to dive as the water is clear and is probably the most popular place to dive in Thailand. There is also a few other places to dive also, In Surat Thani there is a rain forest that is even more diverse than the Amazon rain forest called Khao Sok.

There is a nice challenge for divers in Thailand, fresh water diving in the newly discovered underwater cave system in the Khao Sok National Park.

The Khao Sok National Park in Thailand is an area usually visited for the beautiful jungle trekking,ancient rain forest and the easy wildlife spotting opportunities. This lush green rainforest area is dominated by a 165 square kimometerm lake which was created by a damming project, limestone cliffs tower out of the water creating a beautiful vista all around the national park. Transport is by traditional Thai longtail boat only and the area is peaceful and scenic. The making of the dam heightened the water, flooding some amazing formations that have all but passed into history. Careful exploration and research is beginning to locate some of these submerged sites and this is what I was here to document.

It is different than diving on a coral reef, these caves are home to very little marine life, their is only some catfish. The lake around does have a lot of marine life as a whole, but just some of the caves have little marine life. Some of these caves are just breath taking. The formations these caves have taken over millions of years do make for a great photo.

If your are a diving beginner then make sure you go with some experienced divers or mabe just explore the lake around Khao Sok as there is so many beautiful things to see and in most divers opinions, is even better than the caves. SO what ever level of diving experience you have, there is something for everyone in Khao Sok.
