Do Not Get Too Caught Up With Your Ppc Competition

A problem that some people have with PPC advertising is they get TOO worried about their competition

. Yes, you can go overboard with anything. The problem is that they put in too much time worrying about everyone else when they should be worrying about their own campaigns and their own stats.

You have to always be trying to improve your own campaigns. Try to cut your costs and try to improve your ads and try to find more profitable keyword phrases etc.

You're competing against other people and businesses, but you have to also realize you're competing with yourself. You're always competing to make as much money as possible, by spending the least amount of money as possible.

You do this by managing your own campaigns. You do this by testing your ads and by testing what position is most profitable for you. You have to always be looking for newer and better keyword phrases to target. You should always be searching for cheaper and more targeted phrases.

If you're in the top spot and someone comes along and bumps you out of the top slot. Don't get mad and just automatically up your bid to get back on the top slot again. You might not even see any fewer clicks. So why raise your bid? Give it a little time. Being bumped down is not always a bad thing.

I've been bumped down many times and have ended up making more money from it. I started lowering my bids and spent less per click. You can't let your emotions get the better of you. So they outbid you, they are running THEIR business and you are running YOUR business. You have to do what is right for your business.

If it gets too expensive in a keyword phrase for you, there are always other ones that you can go to. You can't be losing money, so if you have to move on, you have to move on.

Remember that your competition may be promoting different types of offers than you are. I will give you an example. Lets say I'm targeting people who want to make money online and I've got a link to my sales page where I'm selling a product.

Some of those advertisers will have a free website that has affiliate products and adsense on it. Some people may have a squeeze page where they are offering a free report for their e-mail address. Some of them are also selling products about making money online, those people are the direct competition.

I'm not really worried about the advertisers with free offers. The people that are searching for free information are going to click on the free links, I don't want those people anyways, so don't worry about those advertisers so much.
