Do You Believe In God?

As Christians we believe in the God of Abraham

, Isaac and Jacob. We believe that He created us and also created the Earth as a home for us to live in the vast universe.

It seems to me that God has left His fingerprints and footprints all over creation for us by faith and reason to come to know Him better. For example, if you were walking around your neighborhood and noticed a turtle on a fencepost, you would by reason know that someone had been there and placed that turtle on the top of that fencepost, realizing that the turtle could not have done it by itself.

Likewise, when we look around our world, we will see many more of these turtles on the fencepost or better yet footprints of our Creator.

Example, scientists tell us that there are four main elements necessary for our bodies to live and those are Carbon, Oxygen, Hydrogen and Fluorine. It turns out that all four of these elements are common on our Earth but nowhere else in the Universe that we know of. Fluorine is especially rare in the Universe but not here on Earth. It looks like someone created our Earth for us to live on. What do you think?

Now my favorite example of a turtle on the fencepost is our moon. We have a most unique moon! Most people take it for granted but our moon is a one of a kind moon. Consider this, no one has ever seen the backside of the moon. How can that be? Because the orbit of the moon around the Earth is exactly the same as the time it takes for the moon to revolve one time. Now I mean exactly the same not one second different. How can this be? Looks to me like it was created that way. There is no other logical explanation. No way could it have happened by chance.

Finally, I have been following the work of scientists and physicists as they try by reason alone to give explanations for how the Universe came to be. They are not Christians for the most part; some claim to be atheists and they have recently acknowledged that the Universe was created. I thought to myself - wow they are going to accept a Creator. However, they came to the conclusion that the Universe created itself because it had to. I suppose they would also believe the turtle got on top of the fencepost because it had to.

Thought for this week - Thank God for the bountiful Earth He created for us.
