Traction is one reason why many people think these tires are not useful for them especially on rough terrain. Typically, people think that larger tires will give more traction during these activities. Even if it's a fact, you have to know that the tires are not the only things to give traction on your drive. Getting additional traction is possible by getting parts that are traction differential off road instead of just placing aggressive tires. But you'll get benefit from these off road tires because of its ability to perform well especially on mud compared to other radials. In getting these tiers on your car, you have to understand that better traction is not the only thing you must look for in them as other parts can also give this to you.

The most significant reason for shifting to off-road tires is that it raises the height and ground clearance. This modification will enable your vehicle to climb up steeper terrain and descend in off-road terrains. Or to say it simply, it helps in driving over large boulders, fighting it out through mud, skimming across the desert or going through forest trail. Changing to off-road tires would also entail changing other parts in your vehicle. You would need additional clearance so your off-road tires would fit without bumping into the fenders. Suspension lift, body lift or a combination of the two will be able to give additional inches needed to lift the vehicle. For off-road purposes, it is recommended to get a suspension lift because it also increases wheel travel ability while a body lift simply lifts up the vehicle so the larger off-road tires can fit but it does not have any contribution to off-road performance. New ring and pinion gears plus performance shocks need to be changed in order to carry additional weight as this will cause additional strain on the axles and shocks and changes the gear ration which was previously set by the vehicle manufacturer.

In traversing areas of extreme condition such as bumpy and rocky areas or pothole-marked terrains, bias off-road tires are most recommended. Because of the design of the tire tread, small rocks and other tiny obstacles that can get stuck in the tires easily drop from the tire. This means your travel remains with a consistent grip on the tough tracks. The tread is not the only one designed to survive the toughest terrains as the tire walls are also bolstered for extra resistance to forms of strain and stress. Great performance of bias off-roads in extreme terrains does not translate to driving at high velocity on clean, flat roads. Use them in an ordinary freeway and you'll end up with a racket and fewer miles.

Radial off-road tires are also good performers in off-road conditions and have been designed to have better road handling performance even during high speeds. While these tires may not be able to deliver the same traction or perform as well as bias off road tires, their durability, off-road performance, smooth ride and better design makes up for it.
