Do You Know What Your 10% Difference Is?

Marketing tells you that you need to have a differentiator. Something that distinguishes you from everyone else, right? Correct! Andrea Lee is a differentiator! One of the things I like about Andrea is that she is different. She knows who she is and what she does best. She embodies the concept of being 10% different than the rest of the market place. This is a good thing, and a concept we should all strive for - being 10% different!On the other hand, there are a multitude of programs available which essentially are paint-by-number programs. That is, you can find success within a 'proven system'. Obviously, there is very little differentiation in these systems. The key to these systems, however, is what I choose to call the 'magic bullet' syndrome. The 'magic bullet' syndrome is a belief that a particular system WILL guarantee success quickly thereby bypassing all of the foundational work necessary to create this success.There are many programs on the Internet that seemingly offer you this overnight success. All you have to do is follow the program, and you, too, will have the same success as the author of the program. Is that true? You tell me. Sure, you can follow the exact steps and have success with the program, but the question most people end up asking themselves is, "Is this really me?" Most of the time the answer is no because you are working another individual's system and ideas and those systems and ideas may not fully resonate with your systems and ideas. This means it won't resonate with your clients either! The reason this won't resonate with your clients is because they've come to expect your method of doing business and what you are putting out by following another system verbatim is not you. If you are really honest with yourself, you will find that while some of the program resonates, most of it may not. So, what do you do in a case like this?There are a two important principles that come out of considering this:1. There is NO magic bullet. (I know you know that, but sometimes it helps to actually see it.)2. You need to think like the innovators do, but you need to do it like you! This means you do it your way.Find your 10% difference! The tendency is to look out at the 'players' and think that they got where they are overnight. You tend to think that successful people have always been at this particular level of success. In reality, these folks have been building their businesses for 3 to 10 years. They are an overnight sensation 10 years in the making. The key to their success is they continued to do the little things and to integrate the lessons, ideas, and methods of others into their own system. This is exactly what you need to do to become as successful as you wish to be.I'll leave you with this question/thought: Do you know what your 10% difference is?
