, are you wondering if you have what it takes to sell your house yourself? Have you learned how to get your house sold? People often ask me how to sell their houses because as an investor I've bought and sold many houses over many years. Of course you don't have to be an expert to sell a house, and you surely don't need a real estate license, but you need to know that there is a big job to be done, and you need confidence that you are the right person to do it!

I always start with a pen and paper, and then I get busy writing a list of all the reasons I need to sell a home right now. So, make your list and ask yourself some questions to jumpstart your thinking process. Have you inherited a house you don't need? Do you just want to move to a different area? Now look closely at the reasons on your list and actually read them out loud to yourself while you're looking in the mirror. Pretend like you're a newscaster and pay close attention to this serious news! You'll need to be serious to sell a house these days, and the first and most important person you have to convince is the person in that mirror.

Now get ready to make another list, the more difficult one. Your second list includes all the things you are willing to do to sell your house by owner. This list should include placing ads online, holding an open house yourself, and talking to your neighbors to find out if they know anybody looking for a house in the neighborhood.

I have no doubt you can do all these things to sell your house yourself. These tasks are not difficult of course, but most people would just rather pay an agent to do the work because they are just too shy or lazy do it themselves. Have you got what it takes to accomplish your goal without paying an agent?

Just try it! And if you find yourself needing some help you might consider hiring a real estate agent to help you complete all the work involved in selling a house. Your thinking process and your lists will come in handy no matter what you decide.

If you choose to delegate a portion of the tasks required to sell your home, start by interviewing more than one real estate agent. You are hiring a person to do some of your job and you definitely want the right person for the job. Select the agent who is committed to doing the best job for you. Please read carefully here, I said that you need an agent who is committed, not merely willing, those are not the same at all.
