Moreover, international businesses are looking to make a mark in the vibrant social life that attracts tons of tourists every year to this location. As such, international calls and knowledge of dialing into this location is a must know. Here, we illustrate how to call to Hong Kong from the US using a prepaid phone card. For other countries, the only difference you need to take note of is the exit code. Everything else remains the same.

First off, you'll need to dial the access number provided to you with your phone card. After this, you'll be asked to enter the PIN (Personal Identification Number), and then the destination number.

Knowing your country's exit code is the first and foremost thing you will need to know in order to make any international call for that matter, using your international calling card. If you are in US, the exit code will be 011 if you are using the main exit code. If your telephone operator or mobile subscription services offers you cheaper alternative, you need to check with the respective services on the exit code you can use. Depending on your package bundling your exit code may vary. Let's just assume that you are using the main exit code for our example.

Next, you need to dial the country code of Hong Kong. The country code in this case is 852. The country code is similar to the exit code in the sense that you need a gate to come in as well as to go out. The exit code and country code both serve similar purposes.

Once you know the country code as well as the exit code, you need to know the number for the residence or businesses you want to call. The telephone numbers are 8 digits here and they start with 2. As such, when you are calling from US to Hong Kong using a phone card, your number pattern will be like this: 011-852-2...

Also note that there are two variances for mobile numbers. The number may start with a 6 or a 9. Hence, do ensure that you know the exact number before dialing. Therefore, your number pattern will be similar to 011-852-6... or something like 011-852-9...

One more thing to note when you are making an international call to Hong Kong is that dialing does not require area code. As long as you know the destination number of the residence or business you want to reach, you're good to go.
