Our first crush is one of the most poignant moments in our lives. And it is as significant as your first car, your first boyfriend and your first child. It's the day you found an interest in the opposite sex, the day that you stopped caring about toys and started caring what you looked like.

For girls their first crush typically comes earlier. The crush can be anyone from, someone on a television show, to someone at their school. You become obsessed with this person, the way in which they dress, what they find funny and even when they first spoke to you. The moment you realise they know your name is the moment the penny drops. The moment you realise you want to be married to them.

Now of course this is just the imagination of a young person. Their realms of perception are much lower than that of an adult, and the reality check they have to take is huge. But it does not matter how old you were, or are now you will always remember the name of your first crush. It is one of lives great anecdotes. Something you can tell the grandkids and something you may later tell your husband or wife when your childhood dreams come true.

This of course does sometimes happen. How great is it when a childhood crush does end up being your husband or wife. It does happen, rarely but it happens. At times they could go years without seeing each other, but when they do finally meet years later they click again and life just makes sense. Then all the significant moments in your life can come together with the same person.

The first crush we have can be for any reason whatsoever, there is never a way to tell who it is going to be, when it will start or even when it will end. The story about how a crush ends is sometimes as humorous and sweet as when it begun. The line 'I had a crush on little Johnny Tapia until I saw him picking his nose' is heard often.

Life is full of anecdotes and this is just one of them, there is no way in which we know what is going to happen. But whoever your first crush is or was cherish it, it is something you will remember for the rest of your life, however ridiculous and farfetched it is.
