When we become overweight we tend to blame it on our metabolism which is the rate we burn fuel. Our bodies engine so to speak. We can also lose weight when we cut back just a little and start a proper exercise program containing strength training exercise as when we tone up our muscles by working them directly we stimulate our fat burning mechanism - our muscle tissue so we burn more fuel.So for most of us our metabolism is not a given or an unchangeable factor. It is within our power to increase it if losing weight is important to us. Just those two factors - proper exercise and healthy eating is enough to boost our metabolism so we can burn off unwanted body fat and reclaim our slim trim body.The very worst thing you can do to a 'normal' or 'slow' metabolism is to partake in a calorie restricted diet. As little as two days into it the metabolic rate can slow as much as 15 -20 percent and the brakes go on losing body fat. You have in fact, triggered the 'starvation mode' which is a protective mechanism wired into our genetic blueprint to help stop starvation and to conserve energy.The idea is to change our metabolism and boost it with a combination of proper exercise and healthy eating. This will get our body better and more efficient at burning fat rather than storing it. Such a simple solution really, so if you think you have a sluggish metabolic motor give these two strategies a try as one thing is for sure - they work.
