This technique gives a different page depending on whether the page is requested by a human visitor or a search engine. Keyword stuffed pages are provided for search engines and normal pages for visitors. The problem with this method is that the user clicks on a link to a page that has nothing to do with the search phrase. Popular search phrases are targeted to gain visitors to websites that have nothing in common with the search phrase.

3. Hidden Content

This technique refers to hiding content within the code of the site and stuffing it with keywords. The "comment" and "no script" tags are normally used for this technique. Users will find themselves clicking on a link to a website that does not relate to the search phrase used.

4. Meta Descriptions

The meta description should be used to describe the content of your page and not to be stuffed with keywords. Remember the golden rule that content and websites should be written and designed for users not search engines. Due to the continuous misuse of meta descriptions the search engines do not allocate a lot of value to it anymore.

5. Meta Keywords

Meta keywords should be a short list of words describing the main content of a web page. Due to continuous misuse the search engines do not allocate value to meta keywords anymore making life more difficult for the normal website owner.

6. Link Farming

The search engines penalize website with links from adult, gambling and banned sites. Link farms provide a free for all and anyone can link to everyone else. Unscrupulous service providers offer customers thousands of links to their websites in a short period of time through the use of link farms. This practise can result in penalties and low rankings.

7. Article Spinning

This technique refers to software that are used to re-write an existing article into hundreds of new articles. Re-written articles are submitted to article directories and blogs in order to build links to a website. The quality of the articles that are produced is very poor and most of the articles are not readable. The impact of this technique is the spamming of article directories with poor quality articles that are not original resulting in a negative experience for Internet users. Due to the major abuse of this technique article marketing is not as effective as it once was.

Every website owner has a choice when deciding on their SEO strategy. White hat SEO techniques works well and have long term sustainable results. Black hat techniques can get your website ranked high quickly but will result in the banning of your website in the long term. Your website is a reflection of who you are and the decisions that you make will have an impact on your online reputation.
