While the tank poses the problem of collapse, the drainage field presents the problem of compression. If the soil above the field is compacted by excess weight, it wont allow the wastewater to drain properly. A damaged leach field is easy to detect through soggy areas, rapid growth of grass over the field and possibly a smell.

When Replacement is Preferable to Repair

There are situations in which repairing the septic system just doesnt make good financial sense. The damage is too extensive or the field is beyond repair. When this happens you will need to consider installing a new system.

Since there are very specific rules about where a system is placed you will need to survey your plot to determine the best options. That survey will be converted into a plan that needs to be approved by the County before any work takes place.
