Take ownership of your actions. Be the bigger person and refrain from going on to the blame game. Your ex will probably again say hurtful things but you must take that with a pinch of salt.
Understand that your ex is being bitter only because your ex is hurting as well. After taking ownership of your mistakes tell your ex that you respect their decision to break up, but would like them to think it over just once.
