Does Luxurious Have To Mean Expensive?

To a certain a degree, everyone wants to be driving around in luxury.

For some, luxury might simply mean having a car that has a working heater and seats that aren't torn or ripped.

Others will view automobile luxury as having heated leather seats for the winter and a cold air conditioning system for the summer months.

And then there are those people who expect the utmost luxury in their cars, from hand crafted wooden veneers through to the finest hand leather hides for use on the interior.

The problem for many is that they instantly assume that they can't have a luxurious car because luxury means expensive.

But does it?

In some respects, there is a distinct link between how luxurious a car is and how expensive it is, as a greater level of luxury will usually cost the car manufacturer more, meaning that they have to increase the cost of the car to reflect this.

However, a lot of luxury features have fallen in price considerably over the last few years and many are now considered to be standard.

Take air conditioning as an example. Although the technology has been available for decades, it's only seen mainstream usage in UK cars over the past 10 to 15 years and it hasn't been until the last 5 years where cars have been manufactured with at as standard, rather than as an additional extra or as part of the car's luxury trim.

Heated leather seats are another prime example. Once restricted to only the high end of the car industry, they have been available in more and more cars in recent years and whilst it's not an option that often comes as standard, it's available in substantially more cars than it was a decade ago.

Now whilst luxury features have come down in price, meaning it's likely that you'll be able to buy a car today with more luxury features as standard than you could have done five years ago, it's important that you keep in mind there's no set standard for luxury in a base model.

Therefore, whilst a base model of one car that costs 8,000 pounds might look as luxurious as another base model that costs 13,000 pounds. It's likely that the latter actually has more luxury features.

And it's because of this reason that you have to take into account both price and features, as it could work out cheaper for you to buy the more expensive base model than the cheaper one and have it upgraded to include the features that you want it to.

For some, driving around in a car from Audi dealers is the epitome of luxury. For others it's a car from Bentley or Aston Martin. What you have to remember, however, is that irrelevant of the manufacturer that you're looking to buy from, luxury is available to everyone in some degree and it's just a case of matching what you consider to be luxurious to your available budget to ensure you get the car that you want.
