Does Network Marketing Work in 2010?

With the troubled economy more people are looking at starting their own businesses online due to the fact that a person can get up and running in less than a day and generally with next to no overhead. There are a number of great online businesses to choose from, but many are turning to network marketing. The big question that most people have is does network marketing work?

Let's start by saying that network marketing is a proven business model. In other words it does work; people do make money doing network marketing. With that being said there is always the individual factor that comes into play when talking about network marketing. Does network marketing work, yes it does but that doesn't mean that it will work for you.

As you scratch your head trying to figure that out, it is important to understand that there are a multitude of factors that go into play the moment you decide to do network marketing. To start with you have to take into consideration that company that you are choosing to work with and where they are at in their growth phase. Typically if the company is new, and they are meeting a demand for a product or service your chances of success are higher joining them in the earlier phases then later on. This doesn't mean that you can be successful with a company that has been around for 10 years, but you will not be at the same success level as the people that joined them during phase one and two of their growth.

Secondly and more importantly is your work ethic and belief in yourself. It is incredibly important that you understand network marketing is a business, it is your business, and if you aren't going to do what is required to make it as successful as possible then it isn't going to be. Thousands of people jump into network marketing each and every day, yet only a few handfuls of people make a living doing it. It isn't because it is a scam, or the company didn't have a good product... it is because the person that failed didn't put in the time and effort and dedication that is required to be self employed and make network marketing a success.

Thirdly, the team that you join when you enter into network marketing is also very important. Remember that a chain is only as good as its weakest link. If the team you happen to join isn't motivated and you have a bunch of people that sit around waiting for something to happen instead of making it happen, your success is going to be impacted. If you join a team that has a poor leader, someone that doesn't know how to make network marketing a success, doesn't know how to motivate people or make a sale you might as well have jumped into the deepest part of the ocean without a life preserver or knowing how to swim.

Does network marketing work, yes it does, in a very big way. However you have to be motivated to make it work. Committed to making it work, be part of a team that is successful and join a company that is filling a need that is in demand.
