Many people are unmindful of how fortunate they are
. Westerners neglect freedom that individuals in some other parts of the globe can only be jealous of: freedom of speech and religion. In fact the most simple things such as being able to wear anything you desire is nonexistent in a number of countries. In many cases, traveling halfway around the world and witnessing how other folks are like would they fully grasp just how priceless these freedoms are.
However, does this independence provide more happiness? We have observed cultures where ladies are not allowed to dress up in whatever way they desire. Many of us have seen folks who are so poverty stricken that they can't afford the luxury of new clothes. In spite of this, they constantly manage pleasant, honest smiles.
That does not imply that people living in more liberal, more flourishing places are usually less happy or that those living in more rigid cultures are not really free.
There is a misconception that freedom can by no means be gained because soon after beating one particular barrier, you are instantly challenged with yet another. This is because a lot of us don't completely understand just what the word means. Many of us think that freedom is only recognized once you are certain that you have achieved it.
I have seen folks declare that they will never be free until this has materialized or until this particular challenge has been resolved. They are those who seem to believe in the other myth that happiness and freedom will be brought on by means of situations or decisions outside of them. It takes time to realize that a person has to first discover that inner peace to become happy regardless of how terrible you think your situation is.
