Does Your Church Need A Video Surveillance System?
Recently there was a story on ABC about how many attacks and killings there have
been in the United States this year-81 so far compared to just a handful last year. It brought to mind an incident that made national news right in my own back yard nearly two years ago.
A lone gunman entered New Life Church here in Colorado Springs on 9 December, 2007 killing two and injuring three before being shot and killed. New Life has nearly 10,000 members. The trauma something like this has on church members is unimaginable and long lasting.
Here are some reasons why you may need a video surveillance system in your church.
--Almost all churches have had some problems with vandalism and theft.
--Members cars are left unattended in a parking lot usually with no oversight for at least an hour.
--Many churches are in high crime neighborhoods.
--Most churches host youth activities, young adult groups, sporting events, parties and weddings on their property.
--Many churches I know even lease space to outside groups on a regular basis for educational classes and community organizations.
Most surveillance cameras now are networkable which allows for transmission of video over the internet to church members who may not be able to go to Church.
Here are some ideas for you to consider.
--IP Cameras-These are the simplest to use and install of all options. IP cameras connect directly to your computer and record to the hard drive. You can view the video from any where there is an internet connection simply by logging into the IP address
--Complete Surveillance Systems-The beauty of a system is it comes with everything you need from brackets to monitors to setup and get a surveillance system going. They can have from 4-16 cameras and more depending on your needs
--High Speed Dome PTZ Camera-The most sophisticated surveillance camera there is. It has a powerful zoom lens that can pan and tilt in almost every direction. It is controlled by a separate keyboard with joystick. This is the perfect tool for covering large areas like parking lots or building perimeters.
Can you use a security camera for your church? You actually can't afford to not have one! They send a message to outsiders-'we are watching so don't mess with us.'
Bring your security camera game to the next level with a complete system or a PTZ dome camera. A church security camera will keep your members safer, protect their property and the property of the church. That is exactly what you want.
