Does Your Company Use Social Media?

Each day we discover new websites that are full of great ideas to educate

, entertain, and enrich our lives and businesses. With all these tools at our fingertips, wed be crazy not to take advantage of them. Social Media outlets can help grow your client base, bring attention to your company, or just help you stay in touch with your existing clients.

These days, it seems everyone has a Facebook page, but do you have one for your agency? Facebook is a great tool for reaching many clients at once; either to tell them about changes with their insurance company, or to stay fresh in their minds and let them know that you are more than just a storefront. Lets face it, you can buy insurance from anyone but consumers are looking for an agent they can feel comfortable with, not just a person behind a desk. A daily post about household safety, flood alerts, or car maintenance tips will show your clients that they matter to you. I once had a claim on my homeowners insurance due to water damage. My insurance company contacted me on Facebook to see if I needed help with submitting the paperwork for my claim. The following week, they posted to my Facebook again to make sure the restoration company had repaired the water damage to my specifications. Even though it only took the company a few minutes to post this to my page, it made me feel like their most important client, plus my Facebook friends got a firsthand look at how the company treats their customers. Talk about free advertising.

In our fast paced world, Twitter is another great tool for staying in touch with your clients. You can accomplish the same thing as with Facebook, but with fewer characters. Twitter posts are called tweets and can be remarkably effective. For example, in the 30 or so years that I have lived in Arizona, I have passed a particular restaurant more times thanI can count but I have never eaten there. Last week, they tweeted about a dinner special they were having and I just had to check it out. Now my family and I have an awesome new place to frequent.

Pinterest is fairly new to some people, but it is growing fast. At first, it might be hard to understand the value of marketing on Pinterest, but a few minutes of pinning will make you realize just how advantageous this little tool can be. In addition to getting your name out there, you can reach out to your customers with tips and tricks that may help reduce future claims, or show them the more personal side of your agency. (Not to mention TONS of great crock pot recipes!) We enjoy following our clients and colleagues on Pinterest, and seeing the personal side of the people with whom we do business.

Be sure to follow us on our various social media outlets and we will follow you, too! And if your agency has had success with a Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest page, please share your experiences in the comments section below.
