Does Your Dog Sleep Through The Night?
People love their dogs
People love their dogs. They are a part of families, only companions and confidants. Nothing makes you feel better after a long day than coming home to a big doggy hello.
When your pooch is sad, sick or having problems it can be the worst thing in the world, especially if he isn't sleeping through the night. A good dog bed is one more thing you can to do ensure your dog is as healthy and happy as possible. It allows your dog to sleep comfortably and safely. It is also a great way to take care of your senior pet by providing him or her with a bed that can even help them relieve pain while resting.
There are lots of dog beds out there on the market that can save your own bed or couch the wear and tear of a dog jumping into it all the time.
The most traditional dog bed type is the sort you find at most pet stores, a filling stuffed bed. Large and squishy, this bed is a good first choice for dogs. Over time this sort of bed tends to collapse, lose shape or curl up when a dog lies on it.
It is also filled with stuffing just like your dog's favorite chew toy, and sometimes your dog will decide just that. After coming home to a stuffing filled living room a few times you may choose to go with something different.
Another option is dog mats or blankets. Dogs love to have a place that they know is just theirs, and mats or blankets can be a good way for them to nest in their own little corner. Mats and blankets are great for marking territory and are easy to customize for the size of your dog, but can be difficult to clean. They are not much more comfortable than your floor for your dog, especially once he starts getting a little older. If your dog suffers from joint pain or other ailments a mat will not do anything to relieve that pain.
A third option is an orthopedic sleep system. Just like orthopedic beds for humans, orthopedic dog beds are made from layers of memory and support foam and can come in a wide variety of sizes. Orthopedic dog beds usually come with a washable cover and will not lose shape over time. They are designed to offer comfort and provide support for a dog's body and overall weight. The support from the mattress helps to relieve pressure points, pain of arthritis, hip dysplasia, and joint and muscle stiffness.
Having a comfortable bed for your dog can make a significant difference in his quality of life and yours. Just like a human, dogs sleep for a large percentage of their lives and need a comfortable place to do so. Do your research before purchasing a dog bed and find one that will make both you and him happy for a lifetime.
