So the key to adapt your budget accordingly. When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade rather than asking for a bottle of tequila.

Adapt your budget to the circumstance you're in at any given point. And make sure you have a rainy day fund.

You never know when your income will get slashed from two to one--be it for a good reason or a bad one--but it's always best to be prepared for the worst since, at the end of the day, the person you'll have to keep living with is, well, you!
