1. Don't use a blogging template. Spend some time making something or use a white background. White with black text that is rich content really pays off in the long run for sites where people just want their information and no other distractions.
2. Don't overdo the graphics. Graphics do not help SEO and can be quite annoying if done incorrectly. Use graphics to draw attention to things you want people to read on the site.
3. Create articles that are 3 to 5 paragraphs in length and write them daily. That's right, daily. If it is possible to make more than one post a day then do it! Your Google SEO will go through the roof and your readers will love it.
4. Use viral social marketing such as Twitter, Facebook, etc and actually engage your audience. One will tell one, two will tell two and so on. Never underestimate social marketing!
5. Allow readers to contact you with questions and then answer the questions in the form of posts on your blog. Be sure to credit the writer of the email!
