Dog Car Seats

Many pet owners may not see the significance with using dog car seats in their vehicle

. They may not drive with their dogs a great deal, and when they do it is only for short trips. Most of these people will think, "Well, I'm just going down the road. Spot will be fine in the back seat." However, dogs tend to move around in the car when not restrained. Dog seats would prevent this from having, and can help keep your pet safe during every car ride.

Having a dog car seat for your pet can be beneficial for a number of reasons. For one, having an unrestrained animal loose in the car is a bad idea for the driver. It can cause a distraction for you, especially if you are trying to get them to stay put while you are operating the vehicle. Dogs are curious by nature, and those that do not ride in the car often will be moving around to sniff things and look out the window. If you are constantly glancing back to see what your dog is doing, you are not paying attention to the road ahead of you. Lack of attention is likely to cause an accident.

Speaking of an accident, think of what could happen when wrecks occur involving dogs that are not in dog car seats. The dog can be easily ejected from the car. It could also be bounced around inside the vehicle, injuring itself and other passengers. It has been estimated that in a 30 mile an hour accident, a dog weighing just 15 pounds can come at the windshield or someone sitting in the car with 300 pounds of force. That is why you need to have dog seats in every vehicle you own, or at least in every vehicle that you may take your dog for a ride in.

When you are thinking about dog seats, consider riding in the car with other passengers. You expect them to buckle up to stay safe, correct? Also, think about having your children in the car. You purchase special seats for younger children so that they are safe during your travels. Therefore, why wouldn't you want the same protection for your small pet? Car seats for dogs will also put your pet at a proper height so that he can see out the window comfortably. This can allow them to be more at ease with riding in a car, which is why some dogs feel the need to pace in the seat during the drive.

As you can see, dog car seats are very beneficial for any dog owner to have. This is especially true for those that take their small dogs with them when they jump in the car. Having your dog properly restrained in the car will mean less distractions for you, and a better ride for your pet.
