Remember, though, never to yell at your dog when training, and understand that some breeds will be more difficult to train than others.

Number two: Be firm and consistent. When training your dog, you should put on a firm but friendly act. Use a happy and friendly voice when giving out commands such as "heel" or "come". Use a firmer voice for giving out commands like "sit" or "stay". Also, make sure to be consistent with how you word your commands. Inconsistency will only make your dog confused about what you want. Moreover, be sure to use the same commands as they age because dogs, like people, tend to forget and they may also choose to disobey.

Number three: Start training at an early age. Ideally, you should start training your dog once he reaches six to eight weeks. This way, bad habits, which will be extremely hard to break, won't be developed yet. It's never too late to train a dog, though. So no matter how old your dog may be, you can always teach him a new trick or two.
