Don't Enlist In The Army Of The Walking Wounded

We all expect to have a healthy body and a long healthy life span and we all would

like to achieve our full potential in our one and only precious life. But for some reason many people do not think that there is anything they can do to make sure it happens. But we alone are the one that lives in our body and we need to realize there is a huge amount we can do to influence our own health and wellbeing.

There are different levels of health - there is the one where we simply wait until something goes wrong and we go and see a doctor. Maybe we have symptoms that something is not quite right, we may have aches and pains, feel tired or fatigued, not be sleeping well, are puffing after only a little exertion, be overweight, get frequent colds and infections or simply don't feel 'well'.

Millions of people around the world feel like this and many of them have some sort of chronic condition which is defined as any long lasting health issue that has been resistant to a quick fix (eg drugs). It is likely that there is a disease lurking in the wings that may have been stalking for a very long time. Typically, a chronic condition will not put you in a hospital bed but, it can claim you as a member of an army of the 'walking wounded'.

These means symptoms ranging from mildly irritating to massively intrusive or even totally debilitating. This situation can last for years (even decades) and slowly reduce quality and enjoyment of life. Most people go through life without really taking any responsibility for their health and drift along until something goes wrong. This is really only surviving at a level well below 'real' health.

'Real' health is totally wellness and peak performance in all areas of the body, physically, mentally and emotionally. You have tons of energy, sleep well, you have emotional balance, your body is strong and lean and your mind is sharp. You feel a million dollars which is a far cry from simply 'not being sick'. Your healthy body can easily fend off disease and you can be confident you will not be one of the fifty percent of people on the planet that suffer from chronic 'lifestyle' diseases such as heart disease, cancer and diabetes and at least fifty others.

But this level of health does take some effort. You need to eat well, and this means high quality food that has not had its nutritional value destroyed by processing by man. Whole natural foods raw as well as cooked from scratch are what your body needs to supply it with the essential nutrients that will keep it well and healthy.

The other part of the equation is your proper exercise program. This is muscle building and maintaining strength training exercise performed 2-3 times each week. Without this you can never have 'real' health. The loss of muscle tissue and bone will be accelerated without the 'work' they need to keep them healthy. Once this loss takes its toll around mid life it has weakened the entire body and ones health gets dragged down with it.

Health is important and we all take it for granted until we find ourselves out of it. Don't wait till then be pro active an implement your healthy eating plan and proper exercise program and make sure you never join the ranks of the 'walking wounded'.
