Don't Forget Your Camera At A Dorset Hotel

Visit the beauty of the great county of Dorset

, known for contrasting scenery that is just breathtaking you had better bring a camera when checking into your Dorset hotel.

Dorset is situated on the South coast of England and has rich maritime influences with at the harbour and marine parks. Dorset is at the front of the English Channel and maritime counties of southern England, fronting the English Chas 140 kilometres of coastline stretching from Lyme Regis to Christchurch. Along this stretch of coastline Dorset boasts the most beautiful sandy beaches perfect for an old fashioned British family seaside holiday.

The coastline has a rich heritage and the award winning coast starts at Poole Harbour, which is arguably one of the world's largest natural harbour. The coast reaches out to Purbeck and Chesil Bank, these areas have special nature reserves where you can see wildlife and rare birds in the sanctuaries. There is also the famous Abbotsbury Swannery, which if you are a budding photographer is a must.

Dorset is often described as the county that is 'The Best of Both Worlds', this is because on one side you have a stunning coastline of rich sandy beaches that stretches out for miles, then on the other side you have a fantastic countryside with rural towns and villages, archaeology and an illustrative history the people of Dorset are very proud of. Even before the Romans came to England Dorset has been considered the jewel in England's crown and a popular holiday destination for ancient Kings and Queens wanting to get away from court and be close to the sea.

Dorset's countryside is a rich landscape with hills in the West and heathlands in the East, and extensive streams and rivers running through both. Dorset centre is made of Chalk which has interesting crevices carved out by the streams and amongst it all are small fields and woodlands. Standing on the right spot at Dorset you can look to four different points and see four completely different but exquisite views.

Dorset has a famous plain in the North known as Blackmore Vale, this has lots of winding hedgerows filled with wildlife. It is no wonder with such rich landscapes that Dorset has become a popular location for TV and film crews filming on location. Many films have been filmed in on the Dorset Beach, the countryside, the stately homes and even some of the ruins.
