Don't Know Your Body Shape? Find It Out So You Look The Best That You Can
One of the main problems that most women have when shopping for clothes is that they have no idea what their body shape is
. The majority of women will have been in the position where they have seen a certain type of shirt or pair of jeans and think that they look great on the model but then wonder why they don't suit them when they get them on in the changing rooms. The reason behind this is simple and whilst clothing may be made for the masses in a range of different sizes, some items just don't suit some people.
Skinny jeans are a prime example. You may be able to pick up a pair of skinny jeans in most shops up to a size 16 or 18, but if you haven't got slim legs and narrow hips, it's generally not going to be a good look.
Understanding what body shape you are is not as difficult as you might think and although some people say that there are more than four types of body shape, the vast majority of women will be able to associate themselves with one of the following 4 categories.
1. Apple. Quite a common body shape with larger women who would normally wear plus size clothing, the classic characteristics of a woman with an apple body shape are slim legs with a larger stomach and hips and fuller breasts.
2. Banana. A very slim and tender body shape, those women who are considered to have banana shape will not have any particular curves on their body, appearing to be relatively flat when looking at them from either the side or front. However, as some women with a banana body shape can often have a slim waist, it can appear that both the hips and bust are bigger than they actually are.
3. Hourglass. The classically sexy body shape that a lot of women wished they possessed is actually the least common, a study by North Carolina State University suggested in 2005.
With a large chest and hips, the waist on an hourglass figure is generally relatively slim, often with legs complimenting the upper body perfectly by not being too large or too small.
4. Pear. The fourth and final body shape is the converse to an apple and women who have this body shape will have the standard features of possessing larger legs and hips, a slim waist and comfortably sized chest.
If you've read through this list of the 4 body shapes and believe that you don't fit into any of the categories wholly, don't worry. These groups are given as a general idea to help with choosing what clothes are right for you, but if you find that you are actually straddling two groups, then just research the benefits of both body shapes and take pointers from each. By doing this, you should begin to start understanding which clothes are best suited for your body, making your clothes shopping experience a whole lot easier, more enjoyable and an overall better experience.
