Don't Let A Big Fight Ruin Your Relationship. Try These 4 Tips

Once again, did you and your boyfriend have a quarrel

? Was it over something trivial? Or was it heavy, like catching him with another woman?

Fight with Boyfriend Tip #1

Check out the reason for the fight. Somethings are easily mended, such as being late. Find out why he was late. If he's cheated on you or stole money from you, it's probably time to end the relationship. Don't let a fight throw you off completely, most couples have them. Two different personalities, two different ways of looking at things, it's not unusual for a little conflict to arise.

Arguing is one thing, but physical or mental abuse are good reasons to end a relationship. There could be some emotional or mental problems that you won't be able to resolve. Don't ever stay in an abusive relationship, mental or physical, that won't help the situation at all.

Arguments are unpleasant and they can rapidly escalate and often that's a sure way to end a relationship. So, you had an argument with your boyfriend. What's next?

Fight with Boyfriend Tip #2

The second thing to do once you've "had it out" is to let things chill for a while. After an argument, you'll both need to cool down. Split for a while. Take a walk. Take a nice, long hot bath. Let each other rest - talking things out when you're upset will only escalate the situation.

Fight with Boyfriend Tip #3

Examine the reasons for the fight. Did you take a wrong turn somewhere? Did you argue over something that's been bugging you both for awhile? Don't forget that it's important to consider his side of the story. When your calm, then mull the argument in your mind. Ask yourself if maybe you jumped the gun. Perhaps you were too quick to judge.

Fight with Boyfriend Tip #4

Later, when you've calmed down, your fourth approach is to have a talk with him in a cool and collected way. Let him talk first, try to get the gist of his point of view. Then calmly state your case. Then start mulling over a solution to the quandary. For instance, if lateness is a problem, perhaps he needs to start wearing a watch. Or you could call him an hour before the date to help him to remember. Just remember each others' humanness. Everybody makes mistakes, nobody's perfect. Any problem can be resolved, just do some soul-searching.

Got a solution? Good. Now forgive and forget and go do something you both enjoy. Remember that squabbling isn't the only thing in your relationship, though it's perfectly normal.

Fighting and finding a mutually acceptable resolution can put some character into a relationship. Don't let a fight get you down. It can be a teaching experience, especially if you learn how to forgive.
