Don't Pay Sticker Price For Guitars
Buying new or used guitars is always exciting for not only new guitar players
, but seasoned pros as well. There is nothing quite like the rush of energy you get when picking out a new guitar for your collection or the first one on your journey to becoming the next Hendrix!
Before making your choice, you need to be aware of the various types of guitars on the market, some of which include: hollow bodies, semi-hollow bodies, solid body and pedal steel. Of course some guitar manufacturers are world renown for producing quality guitars, such as Gibson, but everyone has their own favorite brands.
With that in mind, here are a few tips for buying your next electric guitar:
Are you a beginner or experienced guitarist?
Many experienced guitarist have a good idea of what they want to buy when guitar shopping. But no matter how long you have been playing, almost anyone can be overwhelmed when they walk into a guitar shop.
Always have a game plan on what you want to buy, along with a list of prices from other shops. A little price shopping goes a long way and gives you a leg up on the average Joe strolling in to buy a new guitar.
Also, never allow the salesperson to sell you on a different model than the one you want. Be firm on what guitar you want and dont overpay.
Set your budget
If you are a new guitar player, does it really make sense for you to buy a $1000 guitar when there is no guarantee you will even be playing it in 6 months? Be sure to have a reasonable budget and dont let fast talking salesman convince you that you need something more expensive than a basic beginners model.
Dont be afraid to ask questions
When you are guitar shopping, always ask questions. That is what the salesman is there for! The more you learn and better educated you become about the guitars you are considering, the easier it will be to make a more informed buying decision.
Trust me, you dont want to go through the hassle of returning your new guitar because you made an impulsive decision and were too afraid to ask the important questions.
Buying a new guitar should be fun and exciting. So dont be intimidated by the process and be sure to at least visit several shops before making your final decision. All of this extra work will pay off when you are happily strumming away on your brand new guitar!
