Don't Throw Anything In The Trash Until You've Read This Article

It wasn't until a few years back that I actually paid attention to anything having to do with shredding

. I seriously didn't care. Well, that was then this is now. Shredding is very important. It doesn't take much of your personal information for an identity thief to wreak havoc on your lifestyle. Shredding is so important that every home should have a solid paper shredder.

I think you would have to be living under a rock to disagree. If you have watched the news at all or read any periodicals you know that identity theft is rampant. There are stories about single guys, couples, young people, old people; you name it. All the people had identities stolen. Most of these folks spend years to get the damage under control and get their lives back in order. It could easily been prevented if they had disposed of their paper trail.

Are you willing to be a victim to some dumpster diving crook that plans on spinning your financial life and privacy out of control? I doubt it. The simple solution: get a paper shredder. Take some time to look at your documents. Pull out credit card slips, receipts, mortgage info, even your junk mail. You may be surprised to see the wealth of information thieves can use for their gain. They piece together the data they find and use computers to help them find out more information. Eventually, they get the big picture. By then, it is too late.

Destroy documents before you throw them away. This is the only sure-fire way of protecting yourself short of setting your personal paperwork on fire! Do you really want to go through that much trouble? Come on.

Here's something to top it all off. Did you know your data is not the only data you have to protect? If you have a maid or nanny working for you their data is your responsibility too! You must properly dispose of their sensitive data also. If not, you may find yourself in some trouble because of it.

If you don't want to pick up a shredder consider using a professional shredding service. They don't come cheap but they will come to your home and pick up your sensitive documents. Make sure the company is properly bonded. You certainly don't want to be handing over your classified items to a thief that easy.

The bottom line is that you can't trust throwing out your sensitive information in the trash anymore.
