Donut Recipe

Making donuts is one of the simplest processes and anyone can do it at home

. You will need 3 cups all-purpose flower, 2 teaspoons of baking powder, two-thirds cup of milk, half a cup of melted butter or margarine, 2 beaten eggs, two-thirds cup of sugar, oil for frying and different essence: 1 teaspoon vanilla, half teaspoon ground cinnamon and quarter teaspoon ground nutmeg. For topping, you will need powdered and granulated sugar. Ensure that you have all the ingredients in sight before you start the preparation.

Start by mixing the two cups of flour, the baking powder, cinnamon and nutmeg and salt into one bowl. In a different medium-sized bowl, combine the melted butter or margarine with milk. Once you have done this, add the eggs sugar and vanilla into a large bowl and beat until the mixture thickens. Now you will have three bowls with three mixtures.

After this, you will need to alternately add the mixture containing the flour and the mixture containing the milk to the egg mixture while beating until it is smoothly combined. The remaining cup of flour should then be added while stirring to give smooth dough. You should then cover the dough and let it chill for about 2 hours.

After two hours, you need to roll the dough on a floured surface and keep on rolling until it is about half an inch. Use a donut cutter to cut the desired number of donuts while keeping the cutter floured. The next step is to fry the donut in oil, which should be heated to about 375 degrees. Wait for a minute on each side before turning to ensure that the donut forms the golden brown color then drain them on paper towels and cool them especially if you want to powder them to avoid having the powdered sugar melting on your donuts.
