Another common problem is when entrance doors are positioned on the side of the house and so are not seen easily from the front. This makes it harder for good energy to find you. But the very worst situation is if you use a back entrance door, or entrance doors that come in to the house through the garage. In both these situations, Feng Shui teaches that success, good health and good fortune will not be able to find you.

Even glass doors, not typical in China are being recommended because they let in light, while keeping in privacy.
It is also important that entrance doors do not squeak and are easy to handle and well maintained. It tells a guest that there will be problems inside when one encounters rust, dents, untidiness or ill repair at the entrance door of a home. The sound of wind chimes or a small fountain as you stand before the entrance door will persuade only good energy to come in and dispel negative energies.
When you come through the entrance door of a home, it is better if you are not able to see a back door or face a staircase right before you. Both these situations mean that good energy may run past you and out the back door or up the stairs and not come and stay with you. Especially bad is if there are wide glass doors that lead to a back yard, viewed from the entrance door. Here, feng shui teaches that you will find money flowing through your life too quickly and even health may escape you. Catching that energy with crystals or blocking, a view of a back door with a decorative screen would definitely be recommended.
Another important factor is the location of the front entrance door in relation to the garage door. If the garage door of the house is a door commonly used, then this relationship will determine the house's auspicious degree.
