Dotnet Mobile Programming Challenges

Mobiles are the part of our life now days. All of our day to day activity are dependent on mobile devices like pay our bills, access website, booking ticket, View information and check bank account balance. Now come to mobile device programming languages. There are number of mobile devices available in the market which supports different programming languages. Some mobiles support WAP and WML and some support HTML. So to support this entire type mobile programmer need to create a application in different languages. ASP.NET introduced a new platform for developing mobile applications. There are lots of mobile devices available in market some of these are Smartphone, feature phones and one of new is tablets. Mobile programming is available in asp.net from version 2.0 which included different mobile controls. And all of these server controls for mobile devices are available in System.Web.Mobile.dll.

Below are the minimum software configuration require for .net mobile application. Operating system minimum start from windows 2000 profession or server and IIS should minimum to version 5. One more condition for operating system is that all windows 2000 service packs should be there. Next common requirement is asp.net framework should be there. Now comes to next thing that should be there is MMIT (Microsoft Mobile Internet Toolkit). And last one is WAP simulator.

Now come to some of common challenges we got when we are creating mobile applications. First one Screen size as we know there are number of mobiles in market today some contains large screen some have shorter one. As compare to computer screen of these mobiles are much shorter than the computer screen. So we need to design completely different pages for different layout for mobiles. Second challenge we are facing is for input methods while operating on mobiles some of mobiles have keypads and some have touch screen and some have styluses. So for this purpose we need to work on different navigation methods to cover input methods in mobile applications. Now comes to third challenge is about the bandwidth as we know their different cellular data network now a days in market and performance of all these are different so it is difficult to setup a program for these mobile devices. Another challenge in this point is that end user is on different plans that are charge by megabyte. And another issue that we cover here is Support capability as we know some supports latest HTML, CSS and JavaScript. And some of mobile devices dont support these so we need to take all these input before creating mobile programming. As we know latest smart phones have option to zoom and scrolls but the older mobile devices dont have this option this is another issue. Now a days most of users are using web applications on mobile as compare to do on computer so all the application which are developing these days should be compatible on both computer and on mobiles. So here challenge is that programmer has to detect the device type is it mobile or computer after this which type of device is this. Another thing need to get is that mobile device support the format or not.

In above points we got different issues while we are getting while doing programming on mobile devices.
