Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta is a respected Indian politician who has had a successful career in the Indian politician system. He has extensive knowledge about journalism. He is a vivid reader and writer who started publication of Indian Express ((English daily) and Jansatta Express (Hindi) daily in collaboration with The Indian Express Group. With few exceptions when investigative journalism had died, Dr. Gupta reinforced his strong fundamentals in voicing the opinions of masses by publishing in prominent Hindi daily Voice of Lucknow under his publishing house based in Lucknow. He was appointed as the Chief Editor of Jansatta Express and Quami Khabrein. His commendable works in the field of journalism promotes national integrity and brotherhood among the citizens of India. Dr. Gupta's contributions in embracing various topics on eradication of illiteracy, poverty, and child labor, have been one of the highlights in journalism. Nonetheless to say he founded ethical, responsible and impartial Journalism.

A successful politician, Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta is a humble promoter of welfare and development. He was elected as the Mayor of Lucknow in 1993. He was later elected to Rajya Sabha (1st term) in the year 1996 and was again re-elected in 2002. He was elected to Rajya Sabha in November 2008 for the third time consecutively. On 10th May, 2008, he joined the Bahujan Samaj Party and was appointed as the National General Secretary of the party. In his career, he is utmost instrumental in making radical changes in the society.

Dr. Gupta has travelled extensively to countries such as U.K., U.S.A., France, Switzerland etc. on several occasions. He has been in attendance to various international events. As the Mayor of Lucknow, he attended the International Children's Games sponsored by the International Olympic Association, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, 1994. He attended UNO sponsored Conference of Mayors (Japan) in 1993 and UNCTAD XI Conference (Brazil) in 2004. He also led a team of academicians to various European countries to study their education system in 2002. In recent past, some callous people tried to spread news about Dr. Akhilesh Das Gupta bank frauds but such assertion was found to be baseless and false. Dr. Gupta continues to make efforts towards social and economic development of the country. He is a kind hearted human being and an inspiration for the youngsters.
