It doesn't seem so long ago that Dr. Chris Tomshack sweated over getting his chiropractic office off the ground. While Dr. Tomshack is a caring and professional chiropractor, it didn't change the fact that he needed to implement some sound business practices to give his practice some momentum. While business startup was a challenge, Dr. Tomshack took the challenge as an opportunity to turn his education and eye for business into an effective franchise within a matter of years.

Chris Tomshack is the founder and CEO of HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab. His first chiropractic location was also where he and his wife, Lisa were living. While his wife worked the front desk, greeted patients and took X-rays Dr. Tomshack optimistically accepted his current situation but labored to improve his business and expand his patient care.

Upon graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Tomshack started his initial practice in Vermilion, Ohio. While it took time for his business to attain growth, a secure patient base and an eye for business is what drove him to a higher level of success.

Joining business principles with authentic chiropractic care took Dr. Tomshack above and beyond running his own practice. This is what led him to realize the dream of franchise ownership for other hard-working chiropractors as well. He says that with considerable changes taking place every year, the average DC has no idea that they're going to be audited in the next 12 months. It's his vision to see chiropractors finally take their well deserved spot in the evolving healthcare system. He wants to outfit and inspire chiropractors within HealthSource, right now in 43 different states, to sufficiently protect themselves while providing natural and effective care to millions of people across the United States.

Dr. Tomshack acknowledges that his father, the late Michael Tomshack, also his business adviser and mentor, encouraged him to pursue business during his time at Ohio University. Along with his required coursework, Dr. Tomshack also added business courses to his schedule to address what he would later see was an absolute necessity, learning and utilizing the fundamentals of skillful business ownership.

Soon after Dr. Tomshack's office obtained a solid patient base, he launched an additional three chiropractic offices in the Cleveland area. Before long, Dr. Tomshack noted that what he was doing that worked so well, his own fine-tuned HealthSource system, could be replicated to help other chiropractors who may be agonizing over building a successful practice.

In April of 2006, the first HealthSource franchise office was sold. Since then, HealthSource has been named Entrepreneur magazine's Franchise 500 number one franchise three years running. Just this year HealthSource was named their Top New Franchise.

Dr. Tomshack is excited to watch the HealthSource franchise grow and continue to make world-class chiropractic care available in even more locations.
