Drake Tickets - Selling Tunes And Blackberries

It's clear that Drake is a musical artist of the new generation

. In a new documentary that airs June 23 on MTV, the essential ingredient for the Young Money rapper in creating his original hit singles like "Best I Ever Had" is a Blackberry.

"All Drake's raps for eternity have been written inside of a Blackberry," producer and engineer Noah "40" Shebib said during a clip posted on MTV's website. "I mean, to the point where if he doesn't have a Blackberry, we gotta go get somebody who's got one. I've had dummy Blackberries around that I just pull out for him to write on, like if he needs one ... that don't actually even work!"

The young star, who got his start on the Canadian teen soap opera "Degrassi: The Next Generation," admits the pen and paper method just doesn't work for him. "My thumbs were made for touching [the Blackberry keys]," he said in the shot. See how this new method has worked out for him when he performs live with Drake tickets online.

The MTV documentary captures the final production methods for Drake's debut Thank Me Later, an album that was leaked months ahead of time. The Toronto native was adamant about locking in the release date, however, though record executives pushed for an earlier release. He said, "If they got the music already, let's let them listen to it" to MTV News. The musician decided to listen to his gut and kept the release date intact despite rumors that fans had caught wind of the tunes weeks ahead of schedule.

That confidence worked in Drake's favor as hundreds of fans lined up to meet the star during a record signing in New York - support that followed up during a scheduled concert in New York's South Street Seaport. The free concert with Hanson was eventually cancelled after more than double the number of fans expected showed up to the event, reported Fox News New York, which resulted in attacks to the few security guards and police present.

As one of R&B's hottest acts right now, Drake has long been anxious for this type of celebrity. A hometown star in his native Toronto, Drake (born Aubrey Drake Graham) began releasing his own mixtapes in 2006. It took a while for solo exposure though his work was appearing on numerous mixtapes and remixes until a record deal was signed. Eventually "Best I Ever Had" made it huge on the Billboard Hot R&B charts, which gave Drake the opportunity to sign with Universal Motown. He rereleased the EP So Far Gone to critical and commercial acclaim - it even reached the Billboard 200 chart and won him a 2010 Juno Award - before his debut appeared.

Thank Me Later was released on the original date and immediately started to take over the Billboard charts. The singles "Find Your Love," "Over" and "Shut it Down" all made the Hot R&B, Billboard Hot 100 and Hot Digital Songs chart, while bloggers are expected the album to push the top of the charts by the start of next week.
