With winter arriving with a vengeance its time to think about keeping all those draughts out that will allow the heat to escape and cost you both warmth and money during the colder months.

No matter how efficient your boiler, radiators and insulation are, a badly fitting door or gaps in the windows will be wasting heat which will be bad for your pocket and the environment.

Draught excluders have gone along way since the novelty sausage dogs under Grandma's door. Many are discreet and functional allowing doors to be opened without problems and ensuring no heat escapes from the room.

Most modern draught excluders for doors are easy to fit under the door, which can then be opened without having to remove the draught excluder.

But these are not the only areas where heat can escape. Anywhere where this a gap to the outside world will cause to heat to dissipate. Letter boxes are one example and where hat can seep out. Another, often unthought-of area where draughts can escape, is the chimney. Chimneys can literally suck heat from a room and expel it into the atmosphere. Ensuring you prevent draughts is not only a sensible way of saving money during the winter months it is an important step to ensure you are not wasting energy and the environment.
