Drawbacks Mothers Find From Working At Home
One of the fastest growing professions today is working at home, but many individuals who are jumping on this bandwagon do so without first taking into careful consideration some of the drawbacks associated with working at home. There are some mothers who are naturally drawn to work at home, but still others find that this transition is much more difficult for them to make than they realized it would be.
When searching for a career to be done at home the first drawback that many individuals find is that they have difficulty transferring their current career into a situation where it can be a work at home career. Oftentimes, individuals find they have to change careers completely in order to become work at home mothers.
Some jobs such as police officers and medical assistants are careers that individuals would not be able to transfer to a career at home, but careers such as administrative or sales would transfer quite easily. Individuals whose careers would not transfer easily need to consider the drawbacks associated with working at home carefully prior to beginning a new career.
Another factor to consider is the cost. Many mothers are able to work from home simply because of the savings they make in childcare. Being at home with your children every day does sound like a dream come true, but it will be difficult for you to work when your children are awake, which means you will have to catch up on your work when they are asleep. Oftentimes, this means many late nights catching up on work.
However, if your spouse is not covering you and your children on their health insurance, then you will have to pay for health insurance, which will become an expense for you now. As your own employer, you must have excellent record keeping skills as there many special taxes you have to pay, records need to be kept on your income and expenses, plus at the end of year you are required to file a federal income tax return.
Mothers who make the decision to work from home have to be not only disciplined, but also self-motivated if they are to meet their deadlines and get their work done correctly. Many women find this type of work to be right up their alley, but some women find trouble dealing with the strain, pressure, and stress.
Another problem work at home mothers have to deal with is isolation, which at times can become lonely and frustrating if you are not use to spending time alone. However, if you are comfortable with being alone, then you should be more than able to get past those empty feelings of isolation.
Dealing with these drawbacks will help you in considering whether or not working at home is right for you or not. Being able to make working at home a reality only take a same commitment from you as long as you are prepared.
