Driving Tips In Canary Islands

The Canary Islands in Spain are some of the most magnificent and remain to be a major attraction to tourists

. Each of the islands making up this beautiful group has something interesting and unique to offer and the best way of enjoying a holiday here would probably be to ensure that you take a look at each of the islands enjoying what they have to offer you. However, this might mean you extend your holiday since there is just a lot on the islands.

There is no better way to move around the Canary Islands easily and fast than with the use of a car. It is just as simple to hire a vehicle here thereby getting the assurance that you need with your driving. However, those coming from different parts of the world need to get familiar with the driving rules as well as get insight on best fuel spots as a simple way of keeping frustrations at bay. Here are some helpful driving tips for visitors coming into the Canary Island with vehicles as their mode of transport;

Always drive on the right hand side of the road and be sure that you have your seatbelt on. The seatbelts should be applied by all people in the car including children. However, ensure that children who are under the age of 12 do not at any given time sit on the front seat of the passenger.

Ensure that you have accident warning triangles and they should be two for that matter. This will be helpful in case of any incident and you need to stop as you will be required to place one in front and another at the rear side of the vehicle to avoid more trouble with oncoming vehicles.

Remember that the allowed speed on the motorways is 129kph, 90 or 100 on open roads and 50kph when driving through villages on the islands. The use of full headlights is forbidden in residential areas and therefore you will need to use dipped lights or your sidelight while in such areas.

Still in the residential areas, you are not allowed at any given time to use your cars horn. You are only allowed to flash the lights in these areas.

Remember that driving while drunk is not allowed and therefore the limit is 50mg for 100ml of blood as far as blood and alcohol content is concerned. It is also very important to remember to give way to taxis and buses while driving in the Canary Islands.
